lefkada, greece

a steep site can be tricky for designing a family home, particularly when a client had the vision of building half the house under ground on a greek island. we suggested separate ‘viewing cubes’ to the site, all connected by a buried quarter underneath, with sleeping accommodation to the back and all living, entertaining and dining to the front with 180° panorama views. a cascading waterfall runs from a bathroom separating the bedrooms along the terrace over a shoot into a swimming pool at lower level, to be pumped up again to the bathroom feature wall. the underground garage has space for 4-6 cars; guest accommodation, bar, cinema and game room overlooking the sun terrace towards the sea. the design has been approved with lefkada district council. The project is currently on site with infrastructural work to be completed & the basement structure & the shells of the building are in progress.
