cambrian road, richmond

a lot of the terraced houses close to the Park in Richmond are quite tall in character, but their lower ground floor areas are often dark and uninviting. we suggested to add a full width rear extension to the back of the building to accommodate the kitchen, utility and dining facing an extended terrace with gentle steps leading up to the existing garden level, with a study facing the street. we widened the front courtyard connecting with the ramp connecting the basement garage with the street, whilst we provided a large storage room underneath the driveway for bikes and rubbish bins. we managed to retain the rear balconies off the living room sitting on the new flat roof of the rear extension, allowing views to the new garden house at the rear of the garden. the garden has been redesigned with a running water feature next to the steps and planter boxes retaining some of the boundary vegetation.
