this semi-detached edwardian property had been extended at loft level before, but the new owners wanted a streamlined design with a natural flow through the building. we were commissioned to redesign every floor from the small coal cellar to the shabby loft room. the key to the new design was to move the staircase to the other side of the hallway, from which it leads all the way up to the loft floor. by lowering the floor in the rear of the building, we added a new extension with a continuous glass slot separating it from the old ceiling of the build over in the kitchen area. the new side extension now allows for a kitchen, with enough space for dining next to it and a snug area located towards the garden.
a cloakroom and wc block separates the kitchen from the front reception. upstairs, a large master bedroom faces the garden with dressing area, whilst a spacious bathroom infills the existing gable to the front with a feature bathtub as its centrepiece.
the owner and interior designer completed the revamped spaces with a clever choice of materials and a warm colour scheme, beautiful lighting and a subtle choice of selected furniture make this house a masterpiece of a family home.Previous project Next project
